Florida Cancer Affiliates Announces Collaboration with Sarah Cannon Research Institute, Expanding Access to Cutting-Edge Cancer Trials in the Florida Panhandle

January 14, 2026

Florida Cancer Affiliates, through its affiliation with The US Oncology Network, is now conducting community-based clinical trials by collaborating with Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a global leader in oncology research that conducts community-based clinical trials. Offered through Florida Cancer Affiliates’ Panama City location, the collaboration expands access to innovative cancer treatments for patients across the Florida Panhandle.

SCRI has contributed to pivotal research that has helped to advance the majority of new cancer therapies approved by the FDA in the past decade. Through this collaboration, SCRI at Florida Cancer Affiliates will provide patients with greater access to groundbreaking clinical trials—bringing world-class research directly into the community.

“For years, patients in the Panhandle have had to travel hundreds of miles to access clinical trials,” said Christopher Haberman, MD, principal investigator and medical oncologist at FCA. “Now, through SCRI at Florida Cancer Affiliates, they can receive investigational therapies right here at home.”

The collaboration with SCRI offers numerous advantages for cancer patients:

  • Greater treatment options for individualized care plans
  • Access to cutting-edge therapies generally not otherwise available locally
  • Advanced clinical trial matching using SCRI’s Genospace technology and personalized medicine team

The practice recently enrolled its first patient in a national Limited-Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer trial and is opening a major Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer study, with additional trials across multiple disease sites planned for 2026.
