Florida Cancer Affiliates Brings Advanced Radiation Technology to Panama City

The Versa HD linear accelerator will offer patients the latest in radiation treatment for a broad spectrum of cancers.

Panama City, October 14: Florida Cancer Affiliates (FCA), a premier provider of cancer care and a practice in The US Oncology Network, is excited to announce the addition of an advanced radiation treatment system designed to improve patient care. Developed by Elekta, the new Versa HD linear accelerator provides the flexibility to treat a broad spectrum of tumors throughout the body, while enabling treatment of highly complex cancers that require precision targeting. FCA invested in the sophisticated technology to provide the latest radiation therapy to patients living in Panama City, eliminating the need to drive out of town for treatment.

“Cancer patients may require daily radiation treatments over the course of several days; they shouldn’t have to drive long distances to receive care,” said Steven Finkelstein, MD, DABR, FACRO, Radiation Oncologist at Florida Cancer Affiliates. “With the introduction of this new radiation technology, treatments can be given close to home, near the comfort of friends and family.”

Versa HD permits delivery of high-definition (HD) beams to a wide spectrum of complex targets, allowing clinicians to deliver extremely precise beam contouring for both small and large targets. Some of the benefits Panama City patients may experience using the Versa HD include:
